韓, 종주국 美에 연구용 원자로 설계 첫 수출…"66년만에 역수출 쾌거"
- 우리나라가 미국 미주리대학교가 국제 경쟁입찰로 발주한 차세대 연구로 사업의 첫 단계인 초기 설계 계약 체결에 성공했다. 미국의 도움을 받아 시작된우리 원자력 기술이 종주국인 미국에 ‘연구로 설계 수출’이라는 쾌거를 이뤄낸 것이다.
- 과학기술정보통신부는 한국원자력연구원·현대엔지니어링·MPR 컨소시엄이 미국 미주리대학교가 국제 경쟁입찰로 발주한 ‘차세대 연구로 사업(NextGen MURR 프로젝트)’ 첫 단계인 초기 설계 계약을 체결했다고 17일 밝혔다.
BWXT acquires land for US defence-focused enrichment plant
- BWX Technologies, Inc has acquired 97 acres of land in Oak Ridge with plans to establish advanced centrifuge manufacturing capability that “will support the establishment of a reliable, long-term domestic supply of enriched uranium, an essential component for the nation’s defence”.
- The company said that the acquisition of the land at the Horizon Center Industrial Park “is a signal of BWXT’s intent to support future defense missions by supporting the US Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration and deployment of the Domestic Uranium Enrichment Centrifuge Experiment (DUECE) technology from Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) for unobligated enriched uranium”.
Public comments invited on proposed Alberta nuclear project
- Energy Alberta is proposing to build a nuclear power plant on a site covering 1424 hectares in the Peace River area of Northern Alberta.
- The plant would include two to four Candu Monark reactors. The facility would produce up to 4800 MWe and operate for about 70 years.
