Kazatomprom signs uranium supply deal with ČEZ
- A seven-year agreement to supply natural uranium concentrate for the Czech Republic's ČEZ is described by Kazakhstan's Kazatomprom as "a significant expansion of its presence in Europe".
- The deal will supply about a third of the uranium needs for the Westinghouse fuel assemblies used at the Temelin nuclear power plant. ČEZ said the contract increased the diversification of suppliers and helped the energy security for the country.
GE Hitachi Nuclear Demonstrates New Composite Blocks for Nuclear Construction
- A research team led by GE Hitachi Nuclear successfully tested a modular steel-concrete composite that could significantly reduce the cost of building nuclear reactor containment structures.
- GE-Hitachi plans to use the DPSC technique for its first four units of the BWXR-300 small modular reactor in Ontario, Canada.
美·사우디, 원자력 민간 부문 협력…. 한국 원전 수출에도 긍정적
- 미국이 사우디아라비아와 민간 원자력 산업 부문에서 협력하기로 했다. 양국 간 원자력 부문 협력 강화는 앞으로 이어질 한국의 사우디 원전 건설사업 수주에도 긍정적인 신호가 될 수 있다는 반응이 나온다.
- 한국전력은 오는 6월 사우디에 1,400㎿ 규모 신규 원전 2기를 짓는 사업에 입찰할 것으로 알려졌다. 이호현 산업부 에너지정책실장은 앞서 지난 2월 사우디를 방문해 대형 원전 건설과 전력망 확충 등에서 양국 간 협력 방안을 논의하기도 했다.
