Beloyarsk issued with licence for BN-1200 reactor
- Russia's nuclear regulator Rostechnadzor has given the go-ahead for the Beloyarsk nuclear power plant's planned fifth unit - a fast neutron BN-1200 reactor. Preparatory construction works are expected to start this year.
- Russia's nuclear power plan includes a target date of 2034 for the completion of the construction of Beloyarsk unit 5. The preparatory construction work for the unit is due to start this year, with first concrete scheduled for 2027.

- Russia now leads the world in nuclear power plant construction. Its state-owned nuclear energy corporation, Rosatom, is constructing six new domestic reactors and is helping build 19 reactors in six foreign countries.
- Over the past ten years, China has inked contracts to help construct nine reactors in four countries while maintaining an unparalleled rate of expansion in its domestic nuclear industry.
- To prevent authoritarian regimes from commanding the future nuclear energy market, the United States must continue updating its regulatory framework that governs reactor licensing and redirect federal investment toward its own SMR industry. It will also need to coordinate with democratic allies in Europe and Asia to diversify the advanced nuclear energy market.
두산에너빌리티, 캐나다 원자력 기업 우선 공급자 선정…해외 기업 중 유일
- 두산에너빌리티는 29일 서울 중구 롯데호텔에서 캐나다 원자력 기업인 캔두에너지와 원자력 사업 협력을 위한 우선 공급자 협약을 체결했다. 이번 협약은 캔두에너지가 2,000여 개의 협력사 중 먼저 9개 기업을 우선 공급자로 선정하며 추진됐다.
- 이번 협약으로 두산에너빌리티는 캔두에너지가 수행하는 전 세계 중수로 원자력 발전소 사업의 설계, 제작, 설치, 시운전, 운영 등에 참여할 수 있게 됐다. 현재 캔두형 원자력 발전소는 캐나다, 한국, 루마니아, 중국, 아르헨티나에서 총 31개 호기가 운전되고 있다.
