투자모델로 재편된 美 대형원전 시장…좁아지는 韓 역할
- 6일 글로벌 투자회사 브룩필드와 원전 프로젝트 개발사인 더 뉴클리어 컴퍼니는 양사 합작법인이 미국 사우스캐롤라이나주에 있는 VC 서머 원전 2기 건설사업의 프로젝트 관리(PM)를 수행한다고 밝혔다.
- 유틸리티와 공급사 중심으로 추진되며 건설 역량 중심이었던 원전 사업에 인프라 투자자가 전면 등장했기 때문이다.
- 투자자와 개발사가 발주권·사업 권한을 쥐고 기술 노형까지 사실상 고정하는 구도에서는 우리나라 EPC 업체의 사업 주도권이 제한될 수 있기 때문이다.
Rep. Heo Sung-moo Pledges Legislative Support for Korean Nuclear Firms' U.S. Push
- Rep. Heo Sung-moo of the Democratic Party said the National Assembly will support Korean companies' entry into the U.S. market in line with MANUGA the United States' initiative to expand its nuclear power sector.
- "The fact that major countries, including the United States, are accelerating the expansion of new nuclear power is an important opportunity for us," Heo said.
- Park Soo-Yong in Doosan Enerbility stresses that we should seize this as an opportunity to take the lead not only in the U.S. but also in the global nuclear power market."
New Hampshire Latest US State To Open Door To SMR Development
- New Hampshire has become the latest US state to open the door to the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) in the coming years following legislation permitting utility companies to operate nuclear plants.
- An agreement to allow the rollout of SMRs in the state was agreed by state lawmakers in New Hampshire in early May.
- New Hampshire is the latest of many US states looking to advance new nuclear capacity, with at least 25 having legislation and targeted programmes in place to support their development.
