신규원전 유치 놓고 경북 영덕군·울산 울주군 경쟁 전망
- 정부가 추진 중인 신규 원자력발전소 유치를 놓고 경북 영덕군과 울산 울주군이 치열한 경쟁을 펼칠 전망이다.
- 정부와 한수원은 4월 27일까지 지자체 지원계획 제출, 6월 25일까지 평가위원회 부지선정 조사 및 평가 등을 거쳐 후보 부지의 선정 결과를 발표하게 된다.
- 평가위원회의 부지선정 기준은 부지 적정성 25점, 환경성 25점, 건설 적합성 25점, 주민 수용성 25점 등 4개 분야로 구성된다.
Philippines streamlines licensing for nuclear projects
- The Department of Energy (DOE) said the streamlined end-to-end licensing framework was formulated during a Focus Group Discussion on Harmonising Nuclear Power Plant Licensing in the Philippines.
- The DOE said the government hopes to present the NEP-IAC-validated flowchart to prospective nuclear power project proponents who wish to invest in the Philippines.
- The country aims to have its first NPP operational by 2032, with an initial capacity of 1,200 MW, expanding to 2,400 MW by 2035 and reaching 4,800 MW by 2050.
Illinois Sets Out Framework To Deliver 2 GW Of Nuclear Capacity In Coming Years
- The US state of Illinois is set to issue a notice of intent (NOI) for nuclear power providers to submit plans to develop up to 2 GW of nuclear energy in the state with a goal to begin new construction in 2033.
- The order also called for companies to submit expected costs and timelines for projects, workforce requirements, fuel lifecycle for plants and proposed economic benefits for the state.
- Illinois is heaviliy reliant on nuclear for its electricity production, with 11 reactors in operation providing 54% of its supply. Its plants are based in the communities of Braidwood, Byron, Clinton, Dresden, LaSalle, and Quad Cities.
