Bohunice units decommissioning completed
- EBRD(European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) says two VVER-440 pressurised water reactors have been successfully removed and dismantled at Slovakia’s Bohunice Nuclear Power Plant, marking the end of the decommissioning project.
- As part of Slovakia's terms of joining the European Union - in 2004 - it was agreed to shut down the reactors "as soon as possible". The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) says that this followed safety concerns raised by Western European Nuclear Regulatory Association experts. The units were closed at the end of 2006 and 2008, respectively.
- The Bohunice International Decommissioning Support Fund had received EUR638 million (USD745 million) from the European Union and members Austria, Denmark, France, Ireland, the Netherlands and Spain as well as Switzerland and the United Kingdom by the end of 2023.
- A consortium led by Westinghouse, which included the Slovak firm VUJE, delivered the project.
대규모 방문단 이끌고 KINGS 찾은 '루카쉬 블첵 체코 산업부 장관’
- 한국전력국제원자력대학원대학교(KINGS)는 지난 17일 루카쉬 블첵(Lukáš Vlček) 체코 산업부 장관이 이끄는 35명 규모의 고위급 대표단이 대학을 공식 방문했다고 발표. 대표단에는 체코 정부와 의회, 외교부, 산업계, 학계, 언론계를 대표하는 주요 인사들이 대거 포함. 정부 측에서는 블첵 장관을 비롯해 토마쉬 에흘레르(Tomáš Ehler) 원전실장, 마르틴 슈베스타(Martin Švesta) 기술개발과장이 참석했으며, 의회에서는 토마쉬 뮐러(Tomáš Muller), 로베르트 텔레키 (Robert Teleky) 하원의원과 루미르 아셴브렌너(Lumír Aschenbrenner), 온드레이 페베르 (Ondřej Feber), 미로슬라브 플레브니(Miroslav Plevný) 상원의원이 동행.
- 주한 체코대사 이반 얀차레크(Ivan Jančarek)도 동행해 외교적 협력 의지를 보였으며, 체코 정부의 원자력 기술·정책·교육 분야 협력을 제도화하려는 강한 의지를 방증한 것으로 보임.
380억 파운드로 늘어난 유럽 원전 건설 비용...20년째 반복
- 영국의 사이즈웰 C 원자력발전소 건설 예상 비용이 2020년 200억 파운드(약 37조3300억 원)에서현재 380억 파운드(약 70조9400억 원)으로 두 배 가까이 늘어났다고 클린테크니카가 지난 21일 (현지시각) 보도. 이번 예산 폭등은 유럽의 원자력 발전 정책이 체계 자체의 문제를 겪고 있음을보여주는 사례로 풀이.
- 사이즈웰 C의 이러한 예산 증가와 건설 일정의 불확실성은 결국 잦은 설계수정, 현장맞춤형 진행, 잦은 규제적 요구와 같은 EPR이 가지고 있는 특성을 그대로 드러내 보인 것이라는 분석.
