한수원, 한미 민간 원자력 협력 콘퍼런스 개최
- 한국수력원자력이 한미 원자력 협정 개정 10주년을 계기로 마련된 국제 콘퍼런스를개최해 원자력의 미래를 논의했다고 23일 밝혔다.
- 23일에는 오프닝 세션을 포함한 총 4개 세션이 진행됐다.
- 오프닝 세션에서는 프레더릭 캠프 애틀랜틱 카운슬 회장의 개회사를 시작으로 황주호 한수원 사장, 이호현 산업통상자원부 에너지정책실장, 제니퍼 월린 미 에너지부에너지 참사관, 주한규 한국원자력연구원 원장 등이 기조 발언자로 참여했다.
- 이어진 세션에서는 △한미 원자력 협력의 과거와 미래 △한미 산업계 간 협력 △핵연료주기 협력 등 다양한 주제를 중심으로 발표와 토론이 진행됐다.
Tankers U-turn, zig-zag, pause around Strait of Hormuz
- At least two supertankers made U-turns near the Strait of Hormuz following U.S. military strikes on Iran, ship-tracking data shows, as more than a week of violence in the region prompts vessels to speed, pause, or alter their journeys.
- Washington's decision to join Israel's attacks on Iran has stoked fears that Iran could retaliate by closing the strait between Iran and Oman through which around 20% of global oil and gas demand flows.
Centrus HALEU contract extended
- The US Department of Energy has exercised an option to extend the contract for the production of high-assay, low-enriched uranium until 30 June 2026, but additional options could allow for continued production for up to eight more years.
- The HALEU produced under the contract belongs to the DOE and can be used to advance key national priorities such as enabling the demonstration and commercialisation of HALEU-fuelled advanced reactors, Centrus said. ※
