Taiwan Parliament Passes Proposal For Referendum On Nuclear Power
- Taiwan’s legislative yuan has passed an opposition-backed proposal to hold a referendum on restarting the Maanshan nuclear power station where the island nation’s last commercially operating reactor was shut down on 17 May.
- Reports in Taiwan said the referendum proposal was passed in a 58-49 vote, supported by the main opposition Kuomintang (KMT) and the smaller Taiwan People/s Party (TPP).
- Late last year Taiwan’s premier Cho Jung-tai said the country was “very open” to using new nuclear technology to meet rising demand from chipmakers using electricity to provide power for the AI boom.
Polish supply chain gears up for country's first nuclear project
- The Polish government expects a significant share of work on the country's first nuclear power plant to be awarded to local companies, but there are steps needing to be taken by the Polish supply chain, the World Nuclear Supply Chain conference in Warsaw heard.
- The government expects Polish companies to supply at least 40% of the components and services for the country's first nuclear power plant.
- The Baker McKenzie report found that the preparedness of the country's supply chain was low, with local companies particularly needing guidance on norms and standards.
EU “한수원 체코 원전 계약 심층 조사 전 실무협의 중”
- 유럽연합(EU)이 22일(현지 시각) 한국수력원자력(한수원)의 체코 원전 계약과 관련해 역외 보조금 규정(FSR) 심층 조사(직권조사) 검토에 대해 “실무협의가 진행 중”이라고 밝혔다.
- 이날 언급된 실무협의는 FSR 심층 조사 예비검토 과정의 일환이다. 집행위는 작년 10월 입찰에서 떨어진 프랑스 전력 공사(EDF) 신고에 따라 한수원 원전 입찰 과정에 대한 심층 조사 여부를 결정하기 위한 예비검토 절차를 밟고 있다.
- 한수원은 한국 정부의 어떤 보조금도 받지 않았으며 체코 원전 입찰은 2022년 3월 개시돼 FSR 적용 대상도 아니라는 입장이다. 그러나 이미 EDF가 같은 사안에 대해 체코 법원에 소송을 제기해 본안 소송 판결이 나올 때까지 본계약 체결이 지연될 공산이 큰 데다 집행위마저 심층 조사를 개시한다면 결과와 무관하게 체코 정부와 한수원 부담이 가중될 수밖에 없다.
