US Needs To Build Reactor ‘As Soon As Feasible’, DOE Nominee Tells Senate Committee
- The US needs to build a nuclear reactor as soon as feasible and to push ahead with development of advanced reactors and their licensing and siting, a senate committee heard.
- Ted Garrish, who appeared before the senate committee on energy and natural resources as part of his nomination process to become the next Department of Energy assistant secretary for nuclear energy, said the country needs to deploy a new reactor whether it is large, small a small modular reactor or a microreactor.
Okapi Resources Secures Strategic Partnership with Urenco to Advance Uranium Technology
- Okapi Resources Ltd. announced a strategic partnership with Urenco, a global uranium enrichment company, to advance its uranium enrichment technology.
- Urenco will invest A$5.0 million in Ubaryon, a private Australian company owned by Okapi, over the next three years. This partnership is expected to significantly aid in the commercialization of Ubaryon’s technology, providing strategic validation and resources to de-risk the commercialization process.

- 한국수력원자력이 따낸 26조 원 규모 체코 원전 수출 계약이 최소 6~8주, 길게는 내년이후까지 연기될 가능성이 커졌다. 체코 법원이 이 결과에 불복한 프랑스 경쟁사의 이의제기를 받아들여 소송 결과가 나오기 전까지 계약하지 못하도록 가처분 명령을 내렸다.
- 한-체코 간 계약 가능성은 여전히 크다. 체코 정부나 발주사는 현지 언론 등을 통해 한수원과의 계약 추진 의지를 거듭 강조했다. EDF가 문제 삼는 입찰 불공정성 가능성 역시 체코의 공정위가 ‘문제없다.’라고 결론 낸 사안이다. 체코 법원 역시 현지 언론을 통해 이번 가처분 명령은 절차적 조치일 뿐 소송의 결과와는 무관하다고 전했다.
