Brazil aims to start construction of Centena repository in 2026
- Brazil’s National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN) has selected a preferred site and plans to begin construction of the Centena radioactive waste repository in 2026, aiming for completion by 2030.
- The facility will be Latin America’s first permanent repository for low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste with half-lives up to 30 years, and will also host a technology center for waste management studies.
- The repository is critical for extending the storage capacity of Angra nuclear plants, enabling licensing for Angra 3 and the Brazilian Multipurpose Reactor, with costs estimated at BRL 130 million (USD 24.2 million).
Niigata governor consents to restart of Kashiwazaki-Kariwa reactors
- Niigata Governor Hideyo Hanazumi has formally consented to the restart of Units 6 and 7 at TEPCO’s Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant, the largest in the world.

- 동맹은 중요하지만, 그것이 우리의 자율성을 제약하는 구조로 굳어진다면 한국은 스스로의 미래를 결정할 힘을 잃게 되기 때문에 지금 필요한 것은 자주국방과 전략적 자율성이다.
- 동맹의 불확실성에 대비하기 위해 우리는 독자적인 방위 능력을 강화하고, 국제 질서 속에서능동적으로 선택할 수 있는 주체로 서야 한다. 미국과의 협력은 필수적이지만, 그것이 우리의 모든 것을 규정하는 틀이 되어서는 안 된다.
