Department of Energy Establishes Center for Used Fuel Research at Idaho National Laboratory

Holtec submits partial construction permit application for SMRs at Palisades
- Holtec International submitted Part 1 of a construction permit application to the NRC for two SMR-300 units at the Palisades site in Covert, Michigan.
- The twin reactors, each rated at 340 MWe, are pressurized water reactors intended to operate alongside the existing 777 MWe Palisades plant.
- The Palisades plant, originally commissioned in 1971 and shut down in 2022, is expected to reconnect to the grid early this year.
