Tepco, Sellafield extend cooperation agreement
- Japanese utility Tokyo Electric Power Company and the UK's Sellafield Ltd have extended their agreement to cooperate in the field of nuclear decommissioning by up to another 10 years.
- Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) and Sellafield Ltd signed the original agreement in September 2014. The agreement enables sharing of operational and technical knowledge to support decommissioning progress at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi site and the UK's Sellafield site.
- The areas of expertise on which information is shared includes site operation and management, environmental monitoring, radiation protection, project management, design engineering, stakeholder communications and engagement, and procurement strategies.
GLE completes landmark laser technology demonstration
- The large-scale enrichment technology testing campaign at Global Laser Enrichment's Test Loop facility in Wilmington, North Carolina, has demonstrated the commercial viability of laser enrichment.
- Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) began the large-scale demonstration testing of the SILEX laser enrichment process in May, and the extensive performance data it has collected provides confidence that the process can be commercially deployed, the company said.
- The demonstration programme will now continue through the rest of 2025, producing hundreds of kilograms of low-enriched uranium (LEU), while continuing towards building a domestic manufacturing base and supply chain to support deployment of US domestic enrichment capacity.

- 마지막으로 황 사장은 소형모듈원자로(SMR) 개발과 청정수소 생산 등 미래 기술 확보의 중요성을 언급하며, 원자력 산업 발전을 위한 사회적 관심과 지원이 필요하다고 당부했다.
